To slack or not to slack?

Have you ever noticed that the best runs usually happen on the days where you just don't feel like dragging your butt off the couch but you do? Last night the weather was absolutely beautiful. I kept looking outside thinking I should be out there enjoying it, but couldn't quite motivate myself to pull on my runners. Finally, hubby and I decided to go for a bike ride with Mac and Hemi. I mean, a bike ride counts as time spent in the great outdoors, right? It was a great bike ride, about 30 minutes long. The sun was shining and there was only a mild breeze as we biked down by the lake. The fresh air felt great!!

When we got home, I tried to rationalize that since I went for a bike ride I didn't really need to go for a run. I had plans with Mary to do interval training tomorrow, so if I ran today, it would count as a bonus run. But everytime I glanced out the window, the sunshine taunted me. It kept calling me back outside. So finally I gave up and laced on my runners, plugged in my ipod, strapped on my pacer and told hubby I was going out for a SHORT run. Probably only 15 minutes, if that.

Half an hour later, I walked through the door. I had done 5 KM in record time and was so incredibly proud of myself. I went to bed feeling happy and satisfied. Imagine what I would have missed out on if I hadn't gone at all?
