I'm pretty sure Mac tried to negotiate with me today. He has been complaining that his ear hurts now for two days (we think it's a tooth related ear ache) so I've been making an effort to get him to sleep a little earlier than usual for his nap so that he sleeps a little longer. Today though, this is how the conversation went...

Me: OK Mac, you're rubbing your eyes. I think it's time for a nap. Are you tired. (NOTE: he never admits to being tired)

Mac: No Mommy, no nap.

Me: You have gymnastics today at 4 buddy, and I want you to be well rested for that. This isn't optional. You need to go for a nap buddy.

Mac: No Mommy, no nap. Walks over to his little bench against the wall that serves as his time out bench. He sits on it.  No nap Mommy. Mac in timeout.

Me: No, Mommy didn't send you to time out. Mommy wants you to go to bed.

Mac: No bed Mommy, time out.

Is it just me, or did he try to negotiate his way out of a nap that he very clearly needed by offering to sit in timeout?

What a kid.
