For Mac

Dear Mac

You are so precious to me. You bring me joy and have taught me how to love in a way I never thought possible. Some days you test me to my limit, but all it takes is one little funny comment and the negative is erased in a second. I can't really remember what it was like before you came along because now that we have you, life without you seems unfathomable.

There are so many things I want for you as you grow up.  I want you to be a loving person, someone who is not afraid to show he cares for others. I want you to know the value of the words "I love you" and not throw them around and make them meaningless. I want you to have a tender heart and to choose forgiveness over bitterness, faith over hopelessness and joy over sorrow.  I want you to have a sense of right and wrong and always strive for the right. I want you to have strong morals.

I want you to always stand up for the underdog, and defend the defenceless. I want you to listen to older people and be interested in what they have to say because they have a lifetime of experience and wisdom to pass on. I want you to work hard and be an example to others. Choose your friends wisely and don't allow others to influence you. Make your own decisions and don't just follow others.

I want you to love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you and pray for those who mistreat you. Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Know that real value doesn't lie in things, but in the people who surround you. Don't waste time worrying about things you can't control.

Enjoy life. Have fun and don't take everything too seriously. Take time to smell the flowers, feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin.

Always remember that nothing can ever change the fact that I love you and will always love you.
