Anyone who knows me knows that each year at some point between January and March I start to get antsy about winter and I decide to plant something because if I don't see something green growing I'm liable to lose my marbles (the few I actually have left). Also, if you know me, you know that inevitably I forget to water my little green seedling and eventually it dies. Counterproductive, I know.

I saw a pin months ago that had the BEST solution for it. Here is the link. Basically, they use a bottle, cut it in half, invert the top into the bottom and punch a small hole in the lid. Then they run a small string through the hole in the lid: half the string is in the top, half in the bottom. Put a few inches of water in the bottom and the plant in the top. You drench the top and then the plant does the rest. It sucks up as much moisture as it needs at the rate that it needs. All I have to do is refill the base whenever I see it getting low. I decided to give it a try. The bottle on the right is the first one I tried - I'm not sure what it is since Mac knocked it over and the labels got mixed up - and (obviously) it's doing well, so I transplanted all the other ones on Friday. Hopefully, they keep doing well, because ONE of these is a pumpkin plant and I REALLY want to grow Mac a Jack-O-Lantern.
