Hooker to the Face

My sister-in-law and two nephews are in town for a week and a half. I got to meet my newest nephew for the first time (and he totally stole my heart!).  Mac is SO excited to get to play with Bryson and I'm enjoying the chance to snuggle Liam. But we're only one day in and already the funny comments have started. Here are two that I had the chance to hear today.

The first one occurred when I was chatting with Bryson. Isaac was napping, Jen was putting Liam down and Mac was playing downstairs so it was just Bryson and I. He and I RARELY ever have the chance to talk just the two of us so I was talking to him about his gymnastics classes.

Me: Bryson, I heard you're in gymnastics!!
B: *nods*
Me: Do you like it?
B: Yes.
Me: Do you get to jump around on trampolines and do flips and fun stuff like that?
B: Yep.
Me: What's you're favorite part??
B: Well, last time I went to gymnastics I said some rude words and then I went home and went STRAIGHT TO BED!! *the last three words were said with what I can only describe as parental emphasis.
Me: *not sure what to say*

Then later Mac - who was REALLY wound up - was running around with a little Captain Hook hook. He ran past me and swiped at me with it and brushed my cheek with it,  just barely missing my eye. I sent him to time out right away and let him sit there for a minute or two in order to calm down before I went to talk to him.

Me: Mac, do you have anything to say to Mommy?
Mac: Sorry, Mom. *won't make eye-contact*
Me: Why are you sorry?? Look in my eyes when you talk to me.
Mac: *looks up* I'm sorry I smacked you in the face with a hooker.
Me: *facepalm*

Mac strikes again.
